Arnold Clark, a multi franchise dealer group that presently has 200 dealerships in the UK representing 24 different vehicle manufacturers, recently revealed plans to take on 270 apprentices in the summer. The firm is offering a programme for those aged between 16 and 19 looking to take their first step in their career. The programme has been designed to lead on to an acknowledged motor industry qualification. The way this is set up is that there will be on-the-job training at one the dealerships and a set of training weeks at one of the GTC centres.
During an open day at a graduate’s school, Arnold Clark representatives came in and provided details about the apprenticeship. One of the main reasons that people applied for the positions was because they thought that the job security was better since they would be working for a bigger company.
Commenting on the scheme, Arnold Clark Apprentice Recruitment Manager Suzanne Sherry said that the move was important for Scotland’s biggest privately owned business. It demonstrates their continued commitment to apprenticeships, as well as creating more jobs in the UK. They are looking forward to introducing new talent into a workforce that is already 11,000 people strong.
