Earlier in January UK jobs board CV-Library released their final Job Market Report for 2016. The data looks at fluctuations in available roles, applications and wages in a number of industries, comparing the current figures with those from the previous period. The Q4 report revealed some very interesting things about the automotive industry.
The rise in roles in a number of key industries is great news for the UK and reflects positively on the economy. The manufacturing industry saw the biggest rise with a 33.3% jump in job listings. Automotive followed closely behind with a rise of 30.3%. Arts and Graphic Design claimed the third position with 24.5%.
The rise in automotive jobs is great news and shows how strong the sector is. The data also reveals that the appetite for roles is also relatively strong with applications rising in the same period by 17.8%. This is really good for the industry but also shows that more work is needed to attract even more applicants and get people interested in taking up positions.
The big rise in automotive jobs is seen as many companies taking early steps to beat the New Year rush for recruitment. It is also evidence that a strong labour market is expected for 2017. That is why so many companies are looking to invest in their current and future workforces right now.
It will be interesting to see what the figures are for Q1 of 2017. The early expectation is that there will be even more rises in jobs and applications due to increases in both business and candidate confidence.
