Three years of collaboration between Toyota Motor Europe and PSA Peugeot Citroen is soon set to produce a series of new light commercial vehicles. The two leading manufacturers signed a deal in 2012 and will introduce the new Citroen Spacetourer, Toyota Proace and Peugeot Traveller in the first half of 2016. The trio of LCVs will be featured on each of the manufacturer’s stands at the Geneva Motorshow which will take place in March next year.
The three vehicles will be built at PSA Peugeot Citroen’s plant in Valenciennes, France and will be made available in shuttle versions for business use and MPV versions for private use. The collaboration between the two manufacturers has facilitated the development of a fresh and efficient vehicle platform and the capacity to offer global customers modern products that are competitive in their segment.
The combined efforts of both teams have produced distinctive new vehicles with appealing variants that will serve to strengthen the light commercial vehicle market in Europe. The new Proace is set to complement the selection of strong and durable vehicles that consumers have come to expect from Toyota. Since 2013 the first Toyota Proace vehicles have been based on the current generation Peugeot Expert and Citroen Jumpy models. When the teams began working together three years ago it was decided that they would maintain focus on the production of next generation vehicles and the collaboration is set to extend beyond 2020.
The automotive industry has seen a substantial shift towards the production of next generation vehicles. As consumer demand continues to rise, there is increased necessity for motor trade professionals that can contribute to the conception, design and production of complex vehicular systems. Technology is dominating a large proportion of car manufacturing, and there is vast opportunity for innovative individuals looking for motor industry jobs.
