As the UK’s leading automotive recruitment specialists, we always aim to provide a service which benefits both employers and employees, which is why we make sure to keep fully up to date with all the latest developments in the world of recruitment and employment. With recent alterations to the National Minimum Wage (NMW), it is more important than ever before for employers to be up to speed with their employment and payroll procedures, regardless of the industry they are involved in.

The adult rate of NMW has been raised by 20p per hour, which means the minimum is now £6.70 per hour for employees aged 21 and over. For 18 – 20 year olds, their pay will go up 17p to £5.30 per hour. Employers must now pay 16 – 17 year olds a minimum of £3.87 per hour, which represents an increase of 8p. Apprentice minimum wage has been raised by 57p per hour, to £3.30. These changes were introduced on the 1st of October this year, which means all employers should by now have adjusted their payroll to account for the changes. Further changes are set to be introduced next year, as a new National Living Wage (NLW) will be brought in for employees older than 25. From April 2016, employers must pay them at least £7.20 per hour.

When it comes to running a successful business, it is crucial that you are always fully up to date with employment laws and that your employees’ wages are being managed correctly. Another large element of business success is ensuring that you have a successful and efficient recruitment process in place. We are here to help your business employ the right people for each job with our specialised, focused recruitment services. With the right balance of successful recruitment and proper employment and wage procedures, you can optimise your chances of success.
